- गुडी पाडवा
Gudi Padwa is New Year according to Hindu Calender for Marathi community of India. This is on Chaitrya Amavasya (New Moon day of Chaitrya month of Hindi Calendar). It is marked as start of Chaitrya Navratri, which marks the start of 9 day long festival for praising Lordess Durga.

Palaki is a term used in Hindu Religion, for a decorated abode, where God's replica is seated in. This abode is small and can be carried easily on shoulders. Then this palaki is carried in the village, covering all main routes. All people come forward to get darshan (sight & blessing) of palaki.
